Composition

Quentin Duigou is a young composer driven by the search for sound worlds rich in poetry. His music, guided by a supple and colorful discourse, belongs to the French neotonal aesthetic.

He enjoys working closely with the musicians for whom he writes, and takes a particular interest in instrumental expressivity in his music. Deeply inspired by composers such as Debussy, Stravinsky, Ravel, and Dutilleux, his skills as an orchestrator are evident in many of his works. A great admirer of cinema, he is also drawn to film music, particularly that of John Williams, Alexandre Desplat, and Ludwig Göransson.

After earning his orchestration diploma under Olivier Kaspar, along with three prizes in composition at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), he continued his studies in various classes at the same institution, where he was taught for several years by Thierry Escaich.

In 2019, he was awarded First Prize by the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Tours. In 2021, his Violin and Piano Sonata was premiered at the 3rd edition of the Syrinx Festival, held at Château d’Artigny in Touraine. In February 2023, his Trois scènes d’après un paysage surréaliste was created in collaboration with the Centre de musique de chambre de Paris at Salle Cortot, a work described by audiences as generous, a true musical watercolor, echoing the rest of his output. That same year, he received First Prize at the World Classical Music Award, followed in 2025 by First Prize at the Georges Bizet International Competition for his work Quantum Field.

A trained percussionist, he often draws upon the percussion repertoire as a reference. He has written several works for the instrument, including two movements for solo marimba, which he himself performed at Salle Cortot in March 2022.

Conducting

As a young conductor, Quentin Duigou builds his musical world at the crossroads of composition and interpretation. Currently studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), he is developing a personal language enriched by a strong passion for orchestration.

He first discovered conducting in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, later joining the conducting initiation class at the CNSMDP under Rut Schereiner. These early experiences sparked a deep interest in orchestral repertoire and in working directly with musicians. He then honed his craft under Simon Proust, becoming his student.

He has collaborated with the ensembles « Les Clés d’Euphonia » and « Elektra ». He has also conducted the Conservatoire Laureates Orchestra on several occasions, performing works such as Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture, Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, and Nielsen’s Flute Concerto.

In 2025, he joined Alain Altinoglu’s conducting class at the CNSMDP, continuing a path where composition and conducting are closely intertwined.
